The most common kind of assault in Alabama is assault in the 3rd°. This crime is a misdemeanor with a maximum punishment of up to one year in jail and a fine as high as $6000.

The crime of assault third can be committed in four different ways.

The first is if somebody has the intent to cause physical injury to another person, they cause physical injury to anyone.

The second is when somebody recklessly causes physical injury to another person.

The third way is when somebody asked with criminal negligence and they cause physical injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon or a dangerous instrument.

The fourth way this crime occurs when a person causes physical injury to anybody while they are acting with the intent to prevent a peace officer for police officer from performing their lawful duty.
